a sunshiny day

The lilacs are looking good in the sunshine. Even though there’s not much in the garden at the moment, whilst we’re landscaping, it’s looking great, and smelling lovely thanks to the lilac trees.

Oh, and also a gratutitous chicken photo from a while ago…just for fun!

I’ll huff and I’ll puff…

…and I’ll blow dandelion clocks all over the garden! It is sweet how Mia gathers the weeds in the garden and gives them to me as bunches of flowers. We put them in small vases in the kitchen, but they never survive too long! I guess weeds are just happier in the garden!

from the boot sale

The boot sale on Sunday was a good one! I hadn’t been for weeks because of all the rain. I was half expecting that no sellers would turn up this week, but it was the largest boot sale I have ever seen! So, despite the giant puddles in the boot sale field, I found some great items.

There was a definite polka dot theme! I found a TG Green bowl in cream with green polka dots, a set of 3 vintage John Lewis cream and orange dinner plates and bowl. And finally, a beautiful glass carafe with pale green polka dots.

Of the non-polka-dot variety, I also found 2 oval enamel tins, a Staffordshire pottery mug in a groovy 60s print. I also saw a pretty Chinese style box, that I thought would be good for storing stationery, but when I looked inside, there was a rather handsome owl! He’s a kite, and is very delicate, so I don’t think I will test him outside, but he will look lovely in Mia’s bedroom!

bubbles

Bubbles from a birthday party and some sunshine to play outside in. It’s been a pretty great weekend.

colourful crafting with prints

A little colour for your Wednesday! What started as red, yellow and blue, plus a little pink and green, first turned darkish green, and then a little brown. She loved it, especially the squelchy sounds that hands make when covered in so much paint!

sunshine and red telephone boxes

Ahhh, last May was so sunny! This photo was taken when I visited Great Coxwell, Oxfordshire, which I blogged about here at the time.

How different England can be from one year to another…one of the joys of living on this little island I suppose!

camping without camping

Penhros church

Cadair Berwyn

mmm, toasty!

I’m back from a great couple of days in Wales. Despite the not-so-great weather we enjoyed time outside, built a firepit campfire, ate large amounts of delicious barbeque food and some even braved a splash in the hot tub! Like a true non-camper I then retreated to a lovely squishy bed for a cosy night’s sleep (even if it was only for a few hours!)

The photos are of a nearby church, at Penhros, or a ‘chapel’ if you’re local. I went to a Christening at the church last summer, and it’s just beautiful.

From our friend’s house you can see the Berwyn mountain range. This morning we could see sheep being herded through fields at the bottom of the mountains. A few years ago I climed Cadair Berwyn; it’s very rugged and steep, and so much higher than it looks!

Hope you’re enjoying a lovely weekend, and a great bank holiday if you’re in the UK.

land of poets and singers

I’m looking forward to a bank holiday weekend trip to Wales! We’ll be staying with friends who live just over the border from England, not too near to anywhere, in the beautiful and mountainous middle-of-nowhere!

swedish sunday

Outside it was very grey again today! So, fed up of being house-cooped, I took a drive to Ikea, Wembley.

coffee and cinammon buns, my favourite

and after

very pretty round lights are kind of like sunshine, right?

then we did a little shopping for exciting things like lampshades and pot plants, followed by the obligatory meatballs and cake before heading home

oooh, and I found a cute little tiger there too!
